red string thing from clam

just got a clam today and this red string thingie is coming out of it and trying to get into the sand. it has about eight or nine thinner strands as part of it that are reaching out to the sand and combining and pulling itself out of the clam. weirdness.

what is it? is it ok?

i forgot to dip this guy before putting him in the DT in a moment of excitement after acclimation.

would a coral dip gotten rid of this guy?

To my knowledge, you aren't supposed to use coral dip on clams. As far as what those strands are, I have no idea.

It kinda looks like a spaghetti worm. If so, it's harmless. And you shouldn't dip clams. They are not corals. :)
