refractometer

That is the one I have but I got it off of amazon, it works great and is really easy to use. I highly recommend getting it.

I have that one too, from amazon. Mine came calibrated, but you put fresh RO/DI water on the lens and I believe it should read zero. Just test it once you get it, they give you instructions on how to calibrate it. The only complaint I have with it is that the part you look through untwists to focus it, like a binocular eyepiece, and once you focus it and extend the eyepiece, it will not fit in the case without screwing it back in, no big deal, but its just a bit of a pain if you're in a hurry.

hi :)
I would calibrate with a reference solution (35ppt)
its cheap
and its more accurate:)

I agree you can buy the calibration fluid from BRS.

But I don't think this specific hydrometer is made to be used with a calibration fluid.

This refractometer not hydrometer can be used with a calibration fluid. I have one that I got from BRS and it came with the calibration fluid that always calibrate it at 35 ppt.
