Remote Shut Off for powerheads

Just wanted to share with the group.

Each time I feed, I shut off my powerheads so the food does not end up going all over the place and eventually ending up in my sump. I manually switch off the powerheads.

As I was in home depot this weekend I saw a cool remote switch.

Outdoor Remote Kit-SL-6139-D at The Home Depot

The one I got came with 3 remote outlets for $19, the one above is $10

so far it works awesome, I just hit the remote button and the powerheads turn on/off without reaching behind the cabinet. I think this is going to make feeding time easy.

The units can take up to 13amps each... which is a lot. I have 2 spare outlets, not sure what I am going to use them on... maybe the skimmer?

thanks.

Good deal, I've got something similar with 8 outlets. It's way more convenient, to shut things off with out having to search for plugs.

I would plug my main system pump into it.
When I feed, my vortechs go into feed mode which is a much lighter flow, but still flowing. And my Reefkeeper shuts down the main pump completely. That's what keeps the food from being sucked into the overflow. 15 minutes later it all starts back up automatically.
