is it that bad if i have a glass top on my tank? i have a HOB filter and it splashes like crazy all over my light and leaves salt deposits

Glass tops aren't good. Perhaps you need to increase the water level in your tank to cut back on the splashing.

I would get rid of the glass lid totally, they keep in the heat, restrict oxygen exchange and cut down on the light. All bad stuff IMO

i dont have the glass on there. im just tryign to figure out a way to get rid of hte splash. i increased my water but i still have the problem

Oh well that's not too low then... I guess ditching the HOB filter is another option They aren't necessary anyways.

That would be my choice too.
Replace the HOB filter with a good HOB skimmer and some powerheads and your tank will run much better.

well i have an internal skimmer right now that i just purchased but i think i wanna sell it. but im using the hob filter to run some chemipures
