Sponge propagation

Is it possible to propagate a sponge and if so how?

I have heard of doing that with mushrooms but not sponges

I wouldn't be surprised if you could just cut a piece off, depending on the type of sponge. I'm thinking like a tree sponge or finger sponge. Just make sure it's all done under water. Exposure to air will kill it for sure.

I think if you can get a piece of sponge, you can mount it in much the same fasion as any other frag. I may be wrong, but I've seen pieces of the same sponge I have in my LFS just laying on the sand bed.
