They are super smart, and wont give up trying to escape your tank, and believe me they will succeed and plus when they ink you have to do a massive water change so they dont kill themselves with the toxins.
 
No, you can't keep them with just anything. They will eat most of eveything your going to put in there with them. Most keep a reef with them.
 
Cuttlefish have been known to be kept also. I wouldn't worry about the toxins, if your maintaining water quality. Just as much as people keep Box fish. Lots of people keep Octopus.
