SUBSTRATE

Hey everyone,

Quick question. It's nothing major just something that bothers me. I have white/natural colors sand as my substrate and have all kinds of rock type pieces, shells, debris that collects at the bottom.

Currently, I just shift through the sand through small portions of the sand so I don't distrube too much of the sand any any one time. I'm still worried I will stir up too much at one time and kill my fish off.

Any ideas? Thanks

I've stirred small sections of sand in my tank many times and it did not cause an issue but there is a such thing as too much and people have cause deadly cycles by stirring up too much sand. A couple inches of sand probably will not hurt anything. Stir and test, repeat.

Prob kicking up pockets of H2S. That stuff is deadly to humans. I have no info on H2S poisoning for fish/symptoms. I think it is why sometimes there are crashes after water changes or after moving stuff around. But that is just theory/conjecture. I may be wrong. I often am wrong. Atleast there was no Math.
