Sump backflow control

Hi.

I have finished to build my small tank (10 gal.) sump of 2.5 gal.
The only problem i found was the backflow when shutting off the pump.
After searching solution i found very fast the check valve and it been installed right away.

Now, the flow from the sump to the display tank is lower, but looks like it still flowing about 50 gal/hr, which is good. But, i was reading that check valve is bad and can cause problems. I didn't understand what...

Can someone tell me if it is good to use it?

You can certainly use a check valve, but if you do use one you will need to periodically test it to make sure it is in working order

My sump can hold the volume of water that drains into it when the main system pump is off, so this was never really a concern for me

Yes it is working, thanks.

Since i want to increase the flow, i think i will use the pump as power head to work as a wave maker inside the display tank, and i will buy a stronger pump to work inside the sump. I will control the flow with the valve i have (i have both valve and check valve on the line).

Thanks again.
