sump media??

So I have several fresh water "ponds" on our paper route.. Some are cobered with these discs, they look like mini lily pads..

They are currently in fresh water, but on two side by side ponds, the one with these mini pads, appeared cleaner, and healthier..

Anyone know what these are, and if its possible to acclamate them to salt??

Like... duckweed? Super tiny lily pads?

They're fresh. There's not a way to convert them to salt. There's TONS of macro algae out there to pick from.

:) Thanks!! I'm prepairing to reseal my new to me 85 gal. Just found a 40 long I'm going to use as a sump.. What would be a favored choice for micro algae for a coral like zoas anemones, fishes, & cleaning crew reef tank?? I plan to do copepod breedings in the sump..
