I just got a 135 gallon tank:bounce:!!!!!!!! How big of a sump would I need for it?

As big as you can fit in your stand. The bigger the better!

Bigger is better here, but remember you might want space for equipment. So workout how much space you need and design your sump around your equipment

Planning on using our soon to be old 55 gallon would this fit in the bigger the better category or would I be better off getting something bigger.

I think a 55 would be a great size for that tank.
