Sun Coral

Sometime back I got a dead sun coral from a friend and I used in my tank for live rock since it looked kida cool. Recently I've noticed that there seems to be some Orange color in the coral and when I got a closer look there is like small animone like things all over the dead coral. I wanna know if the coral is recovering or is this some sort of pest anemone?

yap that's what I thought too but I was bit confused because that coral was out of water for several hours and I thought when a coral is dead, they never come back. :D

SUN CORAL HAVE TO BE TARGET FED TO SURVIVE. THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL BUT I CAN NOT KEEP THEM.

It is one of the few corals that does not contain a symbiotic algae, so it must be fed vitamin-enriched brine shrimp or micro-plankton from an eye dropper directly to each one of its polyps. It will usually only expand its polyps in the evening or when it is hungry.

Yap currently mine is doing very happy. I feed it live bring shrimp about twice a week. :)

Nice. I have a plate coral that is currently in the process of regrowing.

Corals can regenerate from a single cell. They won't cover the old skeleton, but will instead start building their own new skeleton.
