t5 lights

would 216w of t5 lights be able to grow sps corals and clams in a 12in deep tank if they do not have IR??

If you can get the SPS high in the tank under the lighting(~3-5in below water level) I say try it. I doubt you will have any troubles b/c of lighting. Unless you have no reflectors...

I kept a Green Porcillapora (One of the easiest SPS) in the top of my 50g tank with 216w dual reflectors T-5s. Also bought a Neon Green Birds Nest SPS and that seems to do ok... I just added another 2 bulbs of T-5 tho to my 50g to make it better :)

Basically you won't see as much growth under moderate lighting, but they shouldn't die from it. (The more hardy ones shouldn't anyways)

i got 270 watts of t5 on 75 gallon tank and i can grow anything under that light mainly cause it has good individual reflectors on each bulb which gives me double the light output back into tank.

Possibly with good bulbs.I wouldn't keep then any lower then 6'' deep.

so the 5w per gallon rule goes out the window with t5's and IR then?? Its about 40g custom made 60"x12"x12"
