Tail-spot Blenny digging a hole in my rock

FishyReef

Broke Reefer!
My tailspot blenny keeps diving into a hole in my rock, getting a mouthful of stuff, and bringing it to the front of the hole and spitting it out. I thought this was more goby and jawfish behavior, but never heard of a blenny doing this. Is this normal?

Yup, that's normal earman. Mine was quite shy for months, but I've had her since March and she's very active in the tank now, even with several larger fish (tang, wrasse, basslet, clowns, etc).

And from the original post, she has made that little hole her home, just had to do some housekeeping I guess!

Most Blennies will find a hole they like and clean it out.
Don't ask me why.If I could get inside their little Blenny heads and figure out what their thinking,I'd write a book and become a millionaire over night.

Every Blenny I've ever kept has done the same thing.

My lawnmower blenny has been doing that too lately.
Sometimes a dwarf cerith snail would wander into his cave and he would grab that too and spit it out at the entrance.
