tank scratches

So iv got a rio 180 ...got scratches on. See someone Here used 220 grit sand paper then cerium oxide. Iv used 240 I think anywais p240 must mean 250 grit?...yh so I used 240 then CO but the scratches the sand paper made wont come out...tanks empty..hoping some1 whose done there own scratch remooval can help ps im using a drill for the CO

i would much finer on the sand paper like 600 to 1000 grit wet or dry use it wet then buff with polishing compound
