No flying cows, but there was sure a bunch of pine trees in the air.
It was a rough ride friday evening, then again this morning.Friday we had wind gusts 80mph,then a couple of miles from here a tornado touched down.
And guess where I was at when it all started friday evening.Sure wasnt where I should have been.

I was late for work this morning because of the downed trees. The wind woke me up about 2 this morning, then the electricity went out.The powerlines were down and 8 or 9 trees down across the road in just a 5 mile stretch.Usually takes me 15 to 20 minutes to get to work, this morning I left here at 5:30,W start work at 7,I didnt get there till 7:30.

There was a boy killed this morning up in Etowah when a huge white oak fell on his families house. From the video on the news,it went straight through the roof and walls, killing the boy in his bed.
Between Friday eveing and this morning,The storms are stronger than I ever remember them being for this part of the country.

thats a really sad story. My parents house is surrounded by huge trees and one fell on our riding lawn tractor and flattened it. I was always afraid during windy rain storms that a tree was gonna smash through my roof and crush me in my sleep.

Where I live, the community is just 12 years old or so, so we don't have super large trees around here. Most of the trees are no bigger than our townhouses. But our community is surrounded by a forest with really big and old trees. I've never had to worry about trees doing much damage here. Just debris. Sad to hear about that boy.

Glad to hear you guys are ok down there! The worse we ever got here in Northern, VA was when Hurricane Isabelle ripped through here back in 2003.

I grew up in Kansas. Never saw a tornado until I moved to Colorado. Ain't that funny?

    Hope you all are safe.

Whats funny,Is I always heard that we couldnt have tornados around here. The mountains would keep them from forming.WRONG.The worst ones I ever been in have been in south east Tenn.So I'm thinking that maybe Kansas aint that bad a place to live.
