The only way I can see it getting him fired it if he did it at work or was showing it at work and some customers complained.

But that is freakin hillarious.

 

I can understand why he got fired...BestBuy can't have a guy working for them who has gone rogue and is "popping off at the mouth" about one of their best selling products...They can't risk Apple pulling their products out of the store. I don't agree with it, but I understand.

I'm just thrilled that somebody at BestBuy actually knows what he's talking about.

 

Yes, but he didnt say anything about best buy in the video AND, best buy also sells the Evo. It is him just making a parady of some of the customers that come into electronic stores.

Made by the same guy but stating why the iPhone is better than the evo. So, it isnt like he was dispariging Best Buy or Apple or Htc. Best Buy firing hime for this is rediculous. Like I said, unless he made it on company time or was showing it to customers, they should have no grounds to fire him.

You guys do know that employers monitor your facebook, myspace, and any other social networking site, blog, or forum that you belong to right? Those sites will stop you from getting a job as well as help you lose one. Happens all the time.

We just provided servers for a large company (about 5,000 empoyees) they have 2 guys all they do for a living is monitor your stuff, your personal websites, social networks, they look at those and anyone that is your friend.

If you work for a large company and think they're not doing it, you're naive. We're talking about billion dollar companies, they're not going to let somebody popping off at the mouth destroy a relationship with a profitable vendor or customer.

If you want proof, jump onto Wikipedia and change a major corporations information, say that it's run by a bunch of morons....It'll be changed back almost immediately.

Anyway, point is I'm not or is any employer going to let you talk smack about their most profitable vendor without serious repercussions. That's just the way it is.

There is an endless list of things that you can lose your job for when you're not on the clock...

 

+1 PRC. My company even has an official "social media policy" about what you can and cannot have on your personal Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, etc. pages. You have to sign a form saying you've read the policy and will abide by it if you have any such pages. Their policy also states that you can be fired (or even have charges brought against you) for things you say on your own pages.

 

What ever happened to Freedom of Speech? :shock:

 

I do know that companies do search all those sites. DO I agree with it? No. Who cares if someone goes out of friday nights and drinks till they fall down. As long as the work gets done.

These cartoons do not mention best buy in them. Best buy is just having a knee jerk reaction about this. If anything, these cartoons will help advertise for the iPhone and Evo and bring in people who heard that you could over clock your evo to 1.2 Ghzes or what ever and want them.

Can Best Buy fire this guy? Yes most likely since you can get fired for any reason that the business wants even if there was no reason. Is this a rediculous reason to fire a guy? In my oppinion, it is.

And BTW, that is also the reason that my Face book page is set so only my freinds can see it.

 

First off, how do we KNOW this guy was fired? Where does it say that? The video says, "I might lose my job over this..." but doesn't say he actually did lose his job. Maybe the first person that said he lost his job was incorrect, and everyone else has just been copying what they heard?

 

Why do we even care about this person anyways? Just saying.....

Don't get me wrong...I love this kid...Like I said, I'd hire him in a second, but I'd also fire him for the same thing BestBuy did. I love him, because he works a garbage job, and still has taken the time to know about the actual product that he's selling. And in his own time, made a movie to express his exasperation, because he has taken the time to study all of this stuff, and nobody will listen to him.....believe me everybody in the elctronics industry wishes they could say what this kid did. I guess that's why I like it so much. He's saying stuff, that a million of us would love to say, but we'd be homeless.

 

Pretty low if a company has nothing better to do than monitor my facebook. Why dont they just set up cameras in my bedroom while theire at it? Just low and kinda sad...I cant take these companies seriously. But i bet they take themselves VERY seriously lol...
