Treating red slime or red algae.

Hello all, first post on here. But,I just treated my tank for red slime and was wondering if I should leave the pump for the sump off for an hour to allow the treatment to stay in the effected area or leave it all running as normal?

What kind of treatment are u using? Some medications require you to turn of skimmers and water filters for an x amount of time.
