Upgrading need advice

So im upgrading my 29 gallon to a 55 which is going into the same spot as my 29. What steps should I take to store all my live stock while im mixing new water. Can I put everything from the 29 (sand and water/rock) into the 55 and run the tank half full untill I have the new batch of saltwater ready to put inside. I have a spare heater so the temp will match.

Yup. Just make sure you rinse your substrate really well if you're planning on reusing it.

I only have a 1 inch 1 1/2 inch sand bed in there at the moment do you think just moving it over would cause any trouble? Not sure how much decaying matter would be in that little of a bed. like the new picture btw.

Yes, any sand needs rinsed

Absolutely rinse the sand. You'd be surprised.

+2 on rinsing it. I actually like to use new sand any time I change tanks just to prevent any potential problems.

If you can... By new sand. My local society, one guy went from a 90g to a 150. He washed his sand and has the worst issues ever. His livestock is all dead and corals are hurting. Lots of money wasted to save 60 bucks. Good luck
