ummmm yikes and ouch does not begin to cut it lol from the looks of this.... and it so does not one bit from stepping on one in Hawaii while surfing and bailing quite hard the pain just down right kill's it so vary much sucks and if it gets infected even worse... But I do have to say the jelly sting sucked way more than the urchin spines in my foot. also have to say the ones that could not be pulled out took quite a few weeks to work them self's out..... I hope your friend went to the doctors for some help and a really good antibiotic.

Also would like to ask if he did not get the medical help end did he do a vinegar soak? sometimes the spines will dissolve right then and there....
