Uv sterilizer or phosban 150

kilo

Reefing newb
Which will work better? A craigslist guy is selling a brand new coralife uv for $90. But a brand-new phosban reactor is $50. Which will work better for a 100g setup

This is really comparing apples to oranges. Both of these things are used to resolve two entirely different issues. That being said, of the two, I think most aquarists would have more use for a phosban reactor than for a UV sterilizer - especially in reef settings

A phosban reactor is used to run phosphate removal media (usually granular ferric oxide but there are others) which may reduce nuisance algae growth and improve coral growth

A UV sterilizer removed bacteria and microbes from the water, which is supposed to help in treating fish disease and parasites

Two totally different applications for two totally different issues
