Just when you think everything is going so smoothly in your tank.....:frustrat::frustrat::frustrat: Off to get some emerald crabs now. :grumble:

I'll say this in complete honesty.....it is one of the most facinating hobbies I've ever participated in....both the good and the bad!

Me too, andysgirl. I have about six of them on one rock and haven't had the courage to pick them off yet. I always wonder how the emerald crabs eliminate them without popping them. Anyone know how this works?

Yes, they detatch the bubble at its base, which doesn't pop it. Then they eat it from the inside out so they don't waste the spores.

The bubbles are harder than you would think. I wait until they grow a while before grabbing them off. My crabs are too busy sitting around to get to them.

Hahaha. Yeah that's how mine are too. When I first saw a few bubbles, I tossed in half a dozen emerald crabs. I see those guys everywhere EXCEPT where the bubble algae is, busilly picking on rocks that have nothing on them.

my purple tang I added ate everyone in my tank

Not sure if that is the norm or not... but...it saved me from cooking my rock.
