I want a sea cucumber but I heard they are impossible to keep alive and end up starving to death.

These guys are from the gulf of mexico.
I've had all 3 of them for almost 1.5 years now. Had a 4th originally but he died after 6 months or so.

They just need a large sandbed so there is plenty for them to feed off of. I think they need to be in a 75 gal or larger.

They're not that difficult. I've had a large tiger tail in my nano for over a year now and it's doing fine. Some of the species are more difficult though.

Yeah I went off to do some reading and see that some of them can get up to 18" but not all of them do. I have lots of sand as well as LOTs of detritus. I recently got a serpent star but he is lazy and only eats chunks of meat. I might look into getting a cucumber now if I can find a very small one.

i LOOOOVE sea cucumbers :) they are actually what got me all echinoderm crazy and into the marine bio program at the MBA :) those lil guys are my buddies! :D
