How do I know if my water pumps are doing there job? I was considering getting two Maxijets 1000's (I got that from a thread here on LR by jhnrb)!!! And where do I place them?

Another ? as far as the diatoms I had on my glass, I wiped it off with a clean towel(it was so unsightly)!!! Was that a good idea?

    yea its a great idea.

I would suggest looking into a mag-float... makes it much easier.

I'm sure the pumps you have are doing the job if there only a couple months old. For circulation I would recommend the SIEO pumps. They have lots of circulation without the velocity. MaxiJets are also really nice if you need to hook them up to a wave maker.

What size tank do you have?
    Do you have a sump?
Also what do you want to keep for live stock? Corals? Softies? LPS? SPS?

This information will help us give you the best possible answer.
