Water Temperature

SeaBee

Ha Ha Thats Funny!
I've heard all kinds of conflicting reports on water temp. The latest I heard is that your tank can go in the high 80's, even touch 90 degrees. I was like "what are you smokin?". The guy said these corals mostly come from tidepools which easily go that high. I strive for 78-80 right now. But is this for real? Can you go that high? What do you guys think? :frustrat:

Some corals are tidal species, but most are not. Most corals live in waters deeper than 30 feet. Temperature swings are more dangerous to corals than stable temperatures, high or low. You can safely keep your tank in the low 80s, but make sure the temperature doesn't swing more than a couple degrees over a 24 hour period.

The key to temps is keeping it stable. I would not ever go past 82 0r 83 but if you can keep it stable then you have the battle won.
