WET/DRY or Sump

Almost done setting up a 55g reef system and just wanted to know what would be the better choice. wet/dry or sump? i have equipment for both just wanted to know which would be the better choice overall?

I'd go with a sump! I've got a simple one with an algae scrubber and it's been great so far!

should i use rock or algae in the middle section of the tank...i have the first section with the skimmer then the middle i was wanting rock/algae with mud and sand and the last section is return? any suggestions?
