what are good fish to have in reef tank

i was curious as in what fish are good to have in reef tank, i know there are many reef safe fish buy i like to add fish that needed in a tank as far as maintenance fish for algae pest or just cleaners. Any advice on what to keep in reef tank.

One of my personal all time favorites is the Six Line Wrasse. It eats flatworms, smaller bristle worms, pyrmad(spelling) snails that attach clams, etc.

Algea
There are many tangs available that stay smaller that will help eat hair algea and add great color (I have a Yellow and Regal).
Lawnmower Blenny(Algea or Sailfin, people call them lots of different things).

For Ich:
Cleaner Wrasse
Cleaner Shrimp
Cleaner Gobies (Neon Blue, etc)

There are also other fish depending on what your trying to control, example I have dragon faced pipefish for controlling SPS pests.

Blue green chromis and the Banggal Cardinalfish, or Pokadot Cardinalfish make good schooling fish.

I second the sixline wrasse. Clownfish are always a staple. Just be sure to add them toward the last since they get a little territorial. Depending on the size of tank you have any of the commonplace tangs are a great addition. Maybe even a mandarin?
