What is this Coral and Is It Healthy?

Bought this coral on a whim, but not sure if i was ready to take care of this.
1) what is it?
2) assume the whitening from the base up is not good. what can i do to reverse?

Also, what is the white stuff growing on the back of my tank. They scrape off easily.

Can't help with the coral other than it is some sort of SPS. They usually need high lighting and good water quality.

The little white things look like spiroids. If so, they will come and go as your tank matures.

What are your parameters?

params would be a good thing along with lighting ( age and type) and flow on the coral, and how fast is it whitening?
