what is this?

Hey,
Just noticed this...shelled creature...poking out from a small hole in the underside of one of my rocks. a clam? or mussel? or I have no idea.

Here's the pic. It's the brown/reddish shell on the flat bottom for the main rock in the pic.

Is it alive?Looks to be some kind of bi-valve,more likely a mussel or scallop than a clam.

seems to be alive. it pokes it head (or whatever) in and out of the hole. Sometimes you see it sometimes you dont. Could be the current pushing it in I guess, but it seems to be more voluntary then that. I've really only noticed it for the last week or so.
It looks like 2 shells that almost join. reminds me of a mussel.

I have a lot of clams/mussels in my rock, but they all appear to be very dead. Lucky you!
