What killed my hermit crab

I noticed what appears to be the remains of a hermit crab!? Ido if it was because I have no shells for its size to grow into or if it was on of my tank members:

1 Maroon CF
1 Tang
4 Yellow Damselfish

Are you sure it's not a molt? They look a lot like a dead crab. Look to see if the body is hallow.

Oh I looked and he's ok! Thanks Alex....although I do feel a tad silly thinkin he died....

So True, I've been suckered twice by the molts.

Also, hermit crabs just die sometimes. If you do happen to find a body that isn't a molt, it doesn't mean that anything killed it. ;)

Two of my hermits (big ones) were great and active for about a year, moulting every few weeks and then suddenly one after the other ( in different tanks) they just died. They had no predators and I tested for everything. :-(
