What kind of fish id this?

I picked up this fish with a tank I purchased and am wondering what it is. I was told it's a prawn goby but doesn't look like the ones I've seen in pictures.

dont recal ever seeing that before... looks like a wrasse of some sort or even a strange puffer haha i know those are like totally different but its hard to tell from the pic

I don't know! It's not a goby. I'll do some research today and try to figure it out.

Maybe someone had a freshwater beside a saltwater and a cichid got excited and mated with a blemmy or goby. LOL. The body and colour does remind me of one.

Thanks Yote. You're right, I just found him. I did a search of hawkfish after reading your post and there he was on page 4. Red Spotted Hawkfish.

I really like the colour of the Blood Red Hawkfish! Maybe I'll go diving in the pond out back and see if I can find one. LOL.

Be careful, they like to jump and will rip the heads of your corals if food lands on them.

Will my spotted one do this too? If so then I think it's fish for sale....cheap, I'd like to get some corals down the road and don't want them ripped apart.
