What kind of rock is this?

I bought a used setup and the "live rock" it came with is like nothing ive seen. It looks volcanic or something. I dont think its what i want in my tank.Heres some pics

looks like maybe lava rock?

i got some rock that looks the same. the lfs had it labeled "lace rock".

Looks really dense and not so porous

i googled lace rock and it does kinda look like that. WIll lace rock host coralline algae?

it will grow coralline, but you need some live rock to seed it and it will spread to it. but the more porous the rock the better for bacteria to cover more surface area.
