what kind of zoa

I know its a zoanthid rock but for the life of me cant remember the name
thanks in advance.. looking for best placement for it have it near bottom in moderate flow right now.. making sure..

Zoanthids really don't have names. Some common color morphs have nicknames -- like radioactive dragon eyes, whammin watermelons, etc. But the name of your zoanthid rock is simply zoanthid rock. ;)

They do look like deepwater zoas. They tend to be smaller in size, and more tightly packed.
 
Not all zoas have names, in fact there are just as many no name zoas as named. A good reference is Coralpedia.com. You can find pics and names of all of them.
 
Yeah, like every coral in the world, ID for every single one of them is very difficult 'cus there are a lot of mutations. But here are some names to help you out:
  • Green sea mats- Zoanthus pulchellus, Z. sociatus
  • Green zoanthids- Protopalythoa spp.
  • White/brown Caribean zoanthid- Palythoa caribeaorum
 
yes I knew that this one was named and that was why i was hoping someone knew.. I had a friend stop by and asked me and I couldnt remember it... memory is the first sign..( wont say the rest) lol
