What sizes holes to drill for the drain?

    up grading from my 55 gal :^:,Ok finally got 120 gallon tank its not drilled,so we will be doing that. Dont know what size i need to drill we have a pump that is 1000gph which we will be using,the sump will be a 55 gal. tank. we will have to drill the sides or back of tank we were told that the bottom glass is tempered.any help will be great .

    Do you know what size bulkheads you'll be using? The hole size will depend on that.

    I guess that should have been the question is what size bulkheads to use. I was thinking 2 - 1 1/2 inch or 2 - 1 inch bulkheads. I looked up the return pump rating and its 1300gph.

    If I were you, I'd get my plumbing figured out first, thinking about return, fuge, etc. Then I would check at my LFS and see if they have the bulkheads there, or order them. THEN I would have the tank drilled by a pro. It would be a shame if it cracked while you did it. Glass is not easy to drill.
