what was this?

I pulled a rock out of my tank and didn't notice that it had a snail on it. So I picked up the snail and looked at it and there was a starfish looking creature on it. It was white and resembled a serpent star. Long skinny legs and a small body. It was as big as a silver dollar. Any ideas?

It sounds like a mini brittle star. They are very common hitch hikers, and will stay small.
