What will cause a crab to die?

What will cause a crab to die? I just lost my biggest crab today, (I got a call from my wife) I know that it can be molting but if it’s not & he did die what can cause a crab to die. I know for sure that it’s not a food problem, I’m the type that can over feed some times, & there is a lot of algae for all my crabs to take care off. So what can it be?

Maybe copper, stray voltage, so on.

What kind of crab? You say "my biggest", I assume it's also the oldest. May have just died of old age. Some reef critters only live a couple years.

Stray Voltage its a possibility, ill look into it. I got this hermit crab from some guy, but I had it for 6 months

Sometimes crabs and shrimps will die while trying to molt...i believe it's an iodine issue.
