what's the deal with BIO BALL'S?

got the 90 up and running and everything is cool,EXCEPT,got some micro bub's in the main.there is a space for bio ball's infact,it had them in when I bought it. (I chucked them) are they hard to up keep ?? and will they help with the micro bubble's? plz advise.. thank's :bowdown:

They need to be cleaned regularly. They trap :pooh: which causes nitrates to rise.

Not sure if they would stop the micro bubbles either
