Can someone please describe the difference between red turf algae and maroon coralline??

Well, red turf is an algae, maroon coraline is a coraline:mrgreen:

SInce the marron coraline puts down a calcium deposit, it will be hard red turf will be softer. Hope that helps a bit Hopefully someone else will chime in too.
