When can I get a clam?

I really want one bad. My tank is only 3.5 months old, and I only started stocking two months ago. I want to add a clam, where can I put him in relation to my rock. I have 4X39W T5's and 2X21W T5's. Plus, I know I will get a better deal on one when I go out of town this weekend. Everyone local says this place is better than the lfs here.

no maxima yet, try crocea clams they are pretty hardy and don't get as big as others. Clams are very beneficial because they filter feed on nitrates, people who cannot keep nitrates all the way down can add clams and watch nitrates go away. i watched a lady on rc tank go from algae crazy to totally purple with coralline algae from putting a huge deresa clam in her 180 gallon tank within months.

If all your parameters are stable and all your other animals are doing well, then go ahead and try one. Darrick is right, go with a crocea.
