Which Trigger

I really want to buy a Trigger fish, and have narrowed it down to either the Blue Throat/ Blue Jaw, or the Crosshatch Trigger. so. Which is the better of the two, or are they basically equal.

They're both similar in temperament and reef-safeness. Crosshatches are IMO much prettier, are rarer and carry the price tag to show it. You're going to spend $800-1200 for the crosshatch.

+1 BL1. The major difference is cost! There's a huge difference in price. My favorite is the pink tail, another one of the reef safe triggers. :)

I dont have any nor do I want any, but for whats its worth I like the Picasso and the Rectangle.

I have the blue throat and love it. Great fish that gets along with everyone. Excellent eater and hasn't nipped at anything that I can see.

The blue throat being called reef safe does that actually mean that it will not eat scarlet cleaner shrimp? The same goes for the pink tail?

Probably not. But there's still a chance with any trigger. Blue throats, pink tails, cross hatch and niger triggers are considered the most reef safe. I had a pink tail for many years and it never bothered anything else in the tank.

+1 Biff, the pink tail is probably the safest. They are are very mellow, atractive & have great personallity.
