Why are Aiptasia bad???

They can move around and sting your corals and they are an eyesore to most people. Some people like them though, I am personally not a fan at all.

They are good at nutrient export but as mantioned above....they can move and pack a powerful sting. They also have an amazing ability to reproduce.

It depends who you are:

Most reefers see them as noxious "sea weeds" - not so pretty when in plague proportions or if they sting your wet pets.

Mind you, peppermint shrimp seem to find them gorgeous.

Dude, you can see everyone's thoughts on the stuff. Would you find a tank full of this stuf and it can get big, how attractive is that. Or pretty corals?

Oh sure one can be Free!

They spread very quickly and sting and kill everything they touch. If left unchecked, you'll end up with a tank of aiptasia and nothing else.

While every thing everybody has posted is true. There is only one reason I can think of where a tank full of aiptasia would be beneficial. And that's if you want a tank with a Copperband Butterfly or a Batfish.since a diet of aiptaisa seems to be what it takes to keep those fish happy.
