Wil a fuge/sump set-up work?

Hey guys, I'm having a "brain fart" right now, and need a lil' advise. A buddy of mine has a 125gal FO tank, that has copper in the water. She wants to "finally" get rid of the HOB filters on it and set up a fuge/sump. My question is, with me setting up a fuge for her, I would like to place cheato and lots of live rock in it for her, but will it thrive in a tank that constantly has copper in it. Will the copper kill or limit the growth of the cheato? Or is she only limited to a sump?

thats a good question smitty, unfortunatly copper does kill all inverts, corals, and even bacteria so having a fuge on that particular tank would be somewhat useless, setuping up a sump for your buddy is a great idea though! The upgrade in water filtration will definitly help keep the parameters more stable since there is no beneficial bacteria.
