Has he eaten at all since you got him? Are the clowns and damsel picking on him? Any signs of injury or disease?

sometimes fish catchers use cyanide to catch tangs which is very harmful to the fish and will often times kill it. it's possible this is one of those fish. any symtoms like spots, discoloration cloudy eyes, white specs?

When you say struggling to stay alive, what is the fish doing exactly? Is he having a hard time keeping his balance?

Do you have a quarantine tank by any chance?

are its ribs showing? cloudy eye?

Two specs of ick wouldn't kill a fish, if it spreads all over then that would kill it.
