got the tank and the light
tank is an oceanic 175g bowfront
by the way i got the light from ndepratt for $120 less than i could get it elsewhere including shipping
72" nova extreme pro

will be starting the stand this weekend

zoot frags, thats awesome never even thought of that one

sump is a 55 i picked up for $40

trying to figure out how to fit a 20gal fuge next to the sump

doors should be done this weekend, as well as figuring out the plumbing

Has anyone had experience with seio powerheads, im planning on two seio2600's one on the far left and one on the far right, pointed at the front. With the bow in the glass it should create a good cross current.

I also have some k3's and k4's from my other tanks that i will use for directional flow

ok so the new tank has been up and running since june 1-09
heres a pic

here is the breakdown

tank- oceanic 175 bowfront dual overflows

stand- home made 2x4 construction, red oak finsh, stand is sealed at the bottom and can hold 60 gallons before it spewes onto my floor

lighting- current nova extreme pro 72" T5 stock lighting for now until replacement time

sump- home-made from a 55 gallon ($40 on craigs list)

skimmer- reef octopus NW 200

pumps- dual mag 5 return pumps

refugium- 24"x24"x24" home-made glass tank, 6" DSB with 1" plenum underneath


still need to neaten up the under tank mess, just havnt gotten around to it yet
I think thats it for now

tearing down and combining two tanks into one was not as easy as i planned

Just to put the tank into perspective, I am 6' 5". That tank/stand/light combo is taller than I am. HUGE!

i think the bowfront adds a little something
although it sometimes distorts your view from certain angles
