    40 Gallon Breeder SUMP Project

About the possibility of pump going out or power failure which results in back siphon: I have a 120 gallon tank. It is 60" x 18". I figure if the return nozzles are 2" below the water line (Is this a good place for them??) then the dimension of water to be siphoned would be 60"x18"x2" = 2160...

    40 Gallon Breeder SUMP Project

I just got a brand new 40 gallon breeder that I intend to make into a sump. I have a preliminary plan that I'd like to run by you guys before I do any building. Some things I had in mind prior to building the system: (Not saying they are right, but these are my thinkings and assumptions.)...

    Which model ATI Sunpower?

Brain, I reread your original post. The tank isn't 18" tall. It is 18" wide and 24" tall. I think the 6 bulb at 13.4" wide is all that will fit since an 8 bulb will be almost as wide as the tank and overlapping the frame on the top of the tank.

    Which model ATI Sunpower?

Just measured and looks like the inside dimension of the tank from is 16" even. I think the 8 bulb might be shining light in areas besides the water.

    Which model ATI Sunpower?

I'll eventually be putting LPS and SPS corals in the tank, so I want to build it 'robust' from the start. I guess I want as much light as possible. The 8 bulb sun power is: 58.5" x 17.5" x 2.1" The 6 bulb sun power is: 58.5" x 13.4" x 2.1" & my tank is 60" X 18" X 24" Looks like...

    Complete Newbie

Complete newbie here. I've never owned a saltwater tank before, but I have always wanted to. I live in Tampa & I love the ocean! I'm out diving on the local reefs weekly and if the weather is too rough i'll try and squeeze in some inshore fishing. I figured a saltwater aquarium is a...
