Clam out of Water

I did a 25% water change today and noticed too late that half the clam come out of the water. He spit some water out of the tank. I've heard of something called bubble disease a condition that occurs when air bubbles get trapped in the clam. A couple hours later I noticed a bit brown on the edge of his teal blue flesh. Could this kill the clam? Is there a way to get the bubbles out?

I've had my clam out of the water before and it never hurt it. I believe when the LFS bagged it for me they took it out of the water as well. Hopefully there's nothing wrong with yours.

Usually clams can handle being out of the water for a few minutes. We've never had any issuses with that at the LFS.
