hi guys im planning on starting up a 29 nano tank soon and i was wondering if there is any species or type of aneneome that will live comfortably in a 29 gal nano tank, thanks for reading

I dont know of any anemone that cannot be kept in a 29gal. I mean the carpets would be a pain because of the size but the big thing you have to consider is your water perams and your LIGHTING... If you dont have good lighting i owuldnt even attempt an anemone.

if you can afford LED's i'd go that way, with t5's make sure you're getting HO and not regular fixtures.

everyone has been telling me that LEDs are the best way to go, but theyre super expensive, but they last a while and are very energy efficient! if i honestly cant afford it ill just do T5

Any clown hosting anemone could potentially outgrow a 29g tank. Bubble Tip Anemones are a popular choice for a lot of people that have "nano" tanks. A bubble tip can still potentially reach 8-12". You need a mature tank with stable parameters in order to have success with any clown hosting anemone as well as intense lighting. not 100% true... If you get a Clarkii clown that sucker will host in just about anything. PInk Tips, Condy ect. They arnt really picky.

Condylactis gigantea( Condy, Hatian, Pink Tips) is not a natural clown hosting anemone. There are no clownfish where these anemones are found. They too can reach some very large sizes. They are nortorius for moving about in a tank. There is potential that it will host but there is also potential it will kill your clownfish.

I've had multiple clarkii's and multiple condys/hatians and the clarkii's ive owned has always taken to them, Im not saying its going to happen but there is a better chance with Clarkii's than any other clown. Judging from his question he can house any anemone in a 29 gallon. BUT he has not made it clear if it is going to be just the anemone and clowns, or multiple fish/corals ect. Really to answer the question here we must base it off what else he has that he wishes to house with the anemone.

I respectfully disagree that any anemone can comfortably live in a 29g system which is what the OP asked. There are a couple options but not all clown hosting anemones would work. I was pointing out that some of these anemones can get very large. Yes, there are success stories like yours with Condys but there are also risks. Based on another post from this member it appears corals will also be housed.

Soooo judging by the answers we've come up with.. Can you house anemone's in a 29 Yes! Is it going to be harder because of water params than a larger tank, Yes! It all comes down to how you want to challenge yourself. One thing you can do to help is add a 10-20 gallon sump to that 29 gallon tank to increase that water volume.

Sorry for the vagueness of my question, I was just wondering if an anemone could be housed in a 29 gal, as well as be a host for clownish without outgrowing the tank :) sorry

Pretty much any anemone can be putput in a 29 gallon.... If an anemone is happy with the lighting and Params of the water it should pretty much stay in one location once it's happy...

IMO the only clown hosting species of anemone I'd put in a 29g tank would be a BTA. The dimensions for 29s are 30x12.5x18 and all except for the BTA grow 20+ inches across which means they wouldn't even fit in the width of the tank and that's not taking into account the space the rocks take from that width. Carpet and Ritteri nems both can reach 36" in captivity which exceeds the length and with if that tank.
Now you certainly can stick any one you want in there but, should you? I wouldn't ... I just don't think the space affords you the ability to keep large nems like that.
