    Finally

Right, there are many setups available. I guess that's why I said the way mine is set up. They do tend to have common themes though such as membranes and di cartridges.

    Powerhead replacement question

I have a duck bill on my return now, but the seio is a power head. Maybe I misunderstood? It can be mounted tunze style or with flow directional nozzle. It's nice in that it only uses 21 watts for 1100 gph. A poor man's tunze. Rumor has it they are coming out with a controller for them one of...

    Finally

I don't know how many it needs to be but the 5 stage usually does the trick. Mine is set up so that stage one is a ten micron sediment filter, stage 2 is a 5 micron carbon block filter, stage 3 is a 1 micron carbon block filter, stage four is the membrane, followed by the di chamber. The...

    Finally

I picked up the Typhoon III from Walter at airwaterice.com. It is a little more expensive at 199 but it is a five stage ro/di with everything you need. It includes a pressure guage, auto shut off valve and a tds meter which you have to buy seperately with the majority of the ebay units. Also it...

    Powerhead replacement question

Currently I have 3 maxijets on a natural wave timer in my 46 gallon. It seems like way too much stuff in the tank. I can use the maxijets for quarantine and making water so I want to replace them with a single powerhead. Tunzes are expensive and a little much for a tank my size. So I'm thinking...

    Im still here

I would run all of your equipment during curing. Run your sump, skimmer, and whatever else you have. It will not only help keep levels down during curing but will also give you a chance to get used to your equipment and get your skimmer dialed in before adding fish and corals. Also, the live...

    Im still here

If you plan on keeping sps, those lights won't be enough. You would want t5's at the least or else metal halides. t5's would work for sps provided they are placed near the top half of the tank. I have seen some gorgeous sps tanks with t5 lighting. Unfortunately I am unaware of any lights strong...

    Tank setup begins

Behind the Tank Electrical with drip loops and gfci Sump There's the guts of the tank. I'll post some pictures of the front of the tank when I get my rock. It looks much cleaner. Hopefully the rock will be here this weekend.

    Tank setup begins

I haven't posted in a while, but I've been slowly setting up my tank in the meantime. I have some photos as well as an equipment list to start with. For the tank I went with a Seaclear 46 gallon bowfront. A lot of people don't care for acrylic, but I love the clarity and the fact there is no...

    Live sand

The coralife superskimmer is said to offer great bang for the buck and can be used hob or in sump. I haven't heard anything but good reviews. I have one and should be able to give my review within the next couple weeks.

    Lunar Lights

Running the moonlights 24/7 is a neat idea since leds last so long. That way I will only need one timer for my daytime lighting and I can just leave the moon lights on all the time. That will save me some space which I don't have alot of.

    Planning a new tank

Thanks Chris. I was thinking I might go with a u tube overflow. I was looking at one from www.lifereef.com It's a bit more expensive but if its reliable it's worth it.

    Planning a new tank

I'm not sure why I'm worried either. I was more so looking for advice so I'm not kicking myself later. If you would document the dyi refuge that would be awesome! I'm not the most handy so I can always use the direction.

    Planning a new tank

That was my original plan, so it must be a good thought. :) But now that I actually have my tank, I find that the slit on the back is only 15 inches long. The cpr aquafuge ps small reguires 19" to hang. Could I have the top of the tank cut? So thats when I started looking at the aquafuge pro...
