    Quick help needed...

I had 1" advise.styrefoam but felt it was a little this and soft and may cause uneven settling and could lead to problems. I went to lowes and settled on 1/2" foil faced blue foam with a liitle more denseness. Thanks for the advise. Tomorrow I will hopefully have water in it for a leak test...

    Quick help needed...

I am setting up a 150 gal. 6ft. long tank. I am in need of input on how thick I should use for foam board to go between the tank and cabinet. Is thicker or thinner best? And what would be best to use? Thanks

    Help...

Yes. The stuff on the rocks is hard and is hard for me to scratch it off. This is not just common algee. My concern is that thes were rocks selected for the purple color and now they are becoming brown and lighter shades when the purple is eaten off.

    Help...

My concern is that I paid a lot for these rocks with the purple covering. I was told that it was the coraline algee. These are diferrent than some of the other rock I purchased that was just a brown and tan. It was live rock also. I am not asking about the fact that they are eating the cyno...

    Help...

I purchased some real nice live rock with purple stuff all over them. They have been in my tank for 4 weeks now. I got my CUC in and working on the algee. My question is if it is ok or are the snails supposed to be eating off the purple stuff? If not then I need to get them out. I believe they...

    Water changes

I thought it was low. I use a hydrometer so I guess I will check on a refractometer. I will try using a salt mix to top it off each day and slowly raise it. I do have a powerhead in the mix tank and also am running a small filter.

    Water changes

You both are correct. I did mean 1.019. I added 1/2 cup and it raised it to 1.020. So I guess I should add a little more? What is the ideal number I should try to achieve? My tank is reef and fish. And it has IMO been running kind of low at 1.02.

    Water changes

I have mixed up 14 gals. of RO water and added 7 cups of salt as per instructions. I checked the SG and it is 1.19. Means I need to bring it up more. Is that correct? Any idea of how much to add? And should I add more and get the SP up to .23?

To get a bigger tank or not that is the question

Very nice looking tank. I would leave it alone. I would if funds and space allows to go bigger. I would fit the largest one in a great show place in the house and develope it as you have the current ank. In the end you will not be sorry. At first the setup takes some time but in the end...

    More questions

Thanks for the answer. I do know variety is best but what are some of the names of these frozen foods? I am a newbie and the LFS is Petco. Some of the sales people have never kept a saltwater tank. Also what should I be getting to feed the corals and others live species?

    More questions

One is on water changes. 1. I have my RO/DI set up and running. When I mix up the solution I know that I have to let it set for a day or two with a circulation pump and heater. How long will this last before it will be no good to use? I have read a lot about having backup water ready to go...

    Closing in the tank question

Those would work for fish owever I am afraid the eel would still get out. May that with screen on top? I would like to try something on the back of the canopy, just am not sure how to do it yet. Thanks for the pic that is a real help.
