as long as your drain has a screen or trap you can clean out you should be fine. Just put something to keep large debris and critters out of it.

I'm not sure. look for a thread in the DIY section. SantaMonica is the brains of algae scrubbing. He has tested LEDs on scrubbers. As for regular lights he recommends 2700kish color. Most Reef LED's would be a lot cooler color temp. My design has changed since this posting but I still use two...

could that be why mine has hair algae shortly after the screen got green and red bubble algae growing out of pores in my rock? I'm not over feeding either.

I'm not the expert, but i think your slot should be able to be even the whole length. Also my scrubber started yellowish for a while and over time it turned green. I have two 26watt cfls about 3" from the screen for about 16 hours. I don't know if you have the option but slanting it upward...

Yea damsels suck in the long run. But, I have a Azure in my reef with lots of other fish and they're all fine. But it's not worth the risk. Catching fish in your aquascaped tank sucks.
