    dry rock OK?

Hey all, So here's the scoop. I've had my 10Gal tank going for months now. Just recently found digitate hydroids on one of my rocks :frustrat:. So being that the thought of them in my tank terrified me, i took the rock out and boiled it (this was friday). It has been sitting out this weekend...

    Digitate Hydroids

hi Salty B. That was a great idea, I was going to do that, but then noticed a couple more much deeper in the rock, so i've decided to just boil the entire rock again. More of a pain, but I want to make sure they are eradicated.

    Digitate Hydroids

yea. Thankfully as of last night I only saw 2 hydroids on one of my rocks. Going to take off my polyps and boil the rock STAT.

    Digitate Hydroids

yea. i'll do that as soon as I get home today. probably a dumb question: Do I need special super glue or epoxy to reattach them? Thanks a ton

    Digitate Hydroids

The one thing i do have going is that the polyps are mainly attached to a small piece of stone, they just started expanding and growing on my LR. So I could just pluck them off and move them so I don't lose the whole colony. Is it recommended then just to boil the rock in RO water? and for how long?

    Digitate Hydroids

Hi all, Noticed last night i have a couple Digitate Hydroids in my tank. I have been doing some research on these pesky critters and I am getting mixed reviews. I looked on Xtalreef and it states they are bad, but then I have seen things come up that that are ok. I know the multiply quickly so...

    Feather duster worm

Hey there, I've had my feather duster a couple months now. about 2 weeks ago it went into its tube and I haven't seen it since. The front of the tube is folded over and there's a little bit of algae on the tube. This morning when I looked in the tank i noticed these long strings like a mucous...

    Cyano bacteria everywhere!

Just checked my water parameters this pH- 7.8, NH3/NH4- 0ppm, NO2- 0ppm, NO3- 20ppm. My pH is low and my nitrate spiked! Ugh. I'm doing a water change today, it is way too high. I don't know what my phosphates are, i don't have that in my test kit. Im going to brig water to my LFS to check that.

    Cyano bacteria everywhere!

Thanks all, I was so worried when I got home. I try to get whats on the sand off with a small water change. Maybe I will try to get some of those snails too. Would Nessarius snails help with cyano too? and do i need to worry about the cyano on my live rock?

    Cyano bacteria everywhere!

So I'm freaking out, my tank has been great then just within the last week i have cyano bacteria growing crazy! I have some coral, star poylps, button poylps, mushrooms, and a Kenya tree. The Kenya tree isn't looking too good either, its slumped over and the trunk has a shriveled appearance. How...
